St Mary Axe

In his sculptural installation, Adams explores notions of architectural permanence and the fluctuations of the contemporary, urban environment. The structure, composed of a series of daily-shifted striped and coloured tarpaulins, uses the visual vocabulary of London street markets, which are uniquely known for their use of coded patterns and colours to designate the use of each stall. As impermanent, changeable and unfixed structures, markets embody the ever-changing nature of the modern city.
