St Mary Axe

“Made for an exhibition near 30 St Mary Axe in the City of London, this installation builds a shifting façade from striped and coloured market tarpaulins. Panels are layered and reconfigured over time, borrowing the visual code of London street markets – where different colours and stripes signal different uses – and transplanting it into a financial district. The piece sits between building site hoarding, market stall and banner, setting the temporary, improvised language of the street against the glass permanence of the surrounding towers.”
