FAQs

What kinds of projects do you take on?

The studio works on sculpture, installations and bespoke fabrication projects. Fabrication ranges from custom display furniture and plinths to one-off cabinets, desks and larger structural pieces for galleries, artists, architects and private clients.

Do you only work in London?

The workshop is based in London, but projects can be made for locations across the UK and occasionally overseas. Smaller works can be shipped, and larger pieces are usually delivered and installed by the studio or trusted contractors.

Do you design as well as fabricate?

Yes. Some projects are fully designed and fabricated in the studio; others are built from drawings supplied by artists, architects or designers. Often the work sits somewhere in between, where an initial idea or sketch is developed together into a buildable proposal.

What materials do you work with?

Most fabrication projects are in timber and sheet materials, with metal, paint and specialist finishes where needed. Sculptural projects may also use composites, found objects or more experimental materials, depending on the brief.

What scale of project can you handle?

Work ranges from small wall-based pieces and individual items of furniture up to multi-part installations and built-in joinery that runs the length of a room. If you are unsure whether something is feasible, it is usually worth asking. We can advise on scale, weight and fixing early on.

How does the process usually work?

After an initial email or call, we look at any drawings, images or references you have and discuss budget, timescale and where the piece will live. From there the studio can develop sketches or technical drawings, then move into fabrication, finishing and installation.

How long does a bespoke project take?

Timings depend on the complexity of the work and how busy the workshop is. As a rough guide, smaller pieces might take a few weeks from green light to completion, while larger installations or fitted joinery can run over several months. If you have a fixed deadline, it is best to mention it at the outset.

Can you fabricate work for other artists?

Yes. A significant part of the studio’s fabrication is for other artists, providing technical development, prototyping and making support while keeping the intent of the original work at the centre. Credits and authorship are always clear: the finished piece is the artist’s work.

Do you take on residential joinery and furniture for private clients?

Yes, where the brief suits the studio’s way of working. Recent residential projects include bespoke oak cabinets, media units and display pieces that sit quietly within existing interiors. If you have a particular room or wall in mind, a few photos and rough dimensions are helpful to start the conversation.

Do you offer site installation?

For many projects the studio can deliver and install the work, especially within London and the South East. For larger or more complex jobs, installation may be carried out with specialist contractors, but will always be coordinated by the studio.

How should I start a project conversation?

An email via the Contact page is usually best. A short description of the idea, the location, any key dates and a rough sense of budget, plus images or sketches if you have them, is enough to begin. From there we can suggest possible approaches, next steps and whether a site visit is needed.
